About Us

In 2022, we needed to get a new collar for our big dog, Darby. He is a Fila Brasileiro (Brazilian Mastiff) and German Shepard mix, rescued from a shelter after the tragic Camp Fire in Northern California in 2018. Darby was an adorable big puppy and now, he weighs 170 lbs. We named our company Giant Dog Gear to honor Darby, since he was our inspiration to start our business.

After going to all three pet stores in the town we lived in and finding that the largest collar available was just 24" long, when we needed a 27" collar, we decided to start making our own collars, as well as a durable leash to help with walking him with more control.

Immediately, we knew that all dogs, of every size need high-quality gear, so we started making small, medium and large collars. We also knew that our leashes are fantastic tools for all dogs as well. Immediately, we added leashes specifically for hunting dogs, service dogs, and lightweight leashes for small dogs to our product line. Soon after we launched, we also began making collars for very small dogs that we call our "Tiny Giant" line (for dogs that think they're big).

In addition, we make a variety of gear bags you and treats for your pup!

We make all of our own products in Central Oregon. We love taking Darby out to enjoy the many rivers, lakes, and trails in this stunning area. We also love going to the Coast, cooking great food, going to live music shows, making new things, and getting outside as much as we can.
